Holiday Greetings From Narnia

We are in  full Holiday mode here and it has been hard to find large bits of time to work on the quilting of Charlotte's quilt.  The sewing room is also full to the rafters with donation quilts for my guild which makes it a little difficult to move around in.(They were made by guild members and I'm storing them until delivery).  I've been a bit sewing deprived so when Molli Sparkles posted the wildcard block for the Honey Pot Bee  I took it as an opportunity to squeeze in a little bit of sewing.

Jason Yenter meets Sarah Watts in these blocks with a little Japanese neutral thrown in for the tree trunks.  Don't you think the Lions look like Aslan from the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.  That was the first series of books I can remember falling in love with as a kid.....nope  Harry the Dirty Dog and Curious George came before that.

My quilting life is a busy as a bee hovering around a honey pot so I don't really need another bee, but this one is just perfect cause I don't have to do anything if I don't want too, or if my life goes off the rails somehow.  And heck if all the blocks are as easy as this one which comes from a tutorial by Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter I'll be able to do it in my sleep.  Just kidding, when I sleep I sleep.  Plus we get to pretend we are princesses and wear tiaras (I'll have to get one) and drink sparkly wine.  What could be better.?

The best thing of all is I'm going to make this quilt entirely from my stash.  Well if I cheat a little you will never know.
I collected all these fabrics here for a project in the past which I never got around to making.  I may not use them all and I may toss in something else if I think it will work better.

Here you have it.  There's lots of Cotton and Steel, a little Violet Craft a little Dear Stella and other miscellaneous stuff from my past.

I doubt I will post again until after boxing day so Happy Solstice my friends (yes today is the shortest day and they start getting longer tomorrow.  Yay!) Merry Christmas, have a wonderful holiday  and I'll see you back between boxing day and New Years when I link up with Cheryl's Best of 2016. I'm linking this post to Let's Bee Social.

Do you have your tiara yet?

I love this. Tiaras and sparkling wine as pricesses is right down my alley. Good I resisted the temptation... This is a lovely fabric pull for the project. Merry Christmas to you too =)

Happy Solstice to you as well; I am definitely glad the days start getting longer again now. I can definitely see Aslan in the C+S print. I think The Honey Pot Bee is going to be such a lovely addition to sewing options. I really like your fabric pull and it is fun knowing we will occasionally be sewing along together. :) Merry Christmas!

I love your fabric pull very much Lisa! I'm on the fence about joining this bee but it does look fun. Happy holidays to you and yours. Oh and I second all your book recommendations and add The Dark is Rising series (especially the first one as it takes place at this time of year.)

I don't think it gets any better than wine and tiaras, unless we sprinkle chocolate in the mix. Then it might :) I love the little Aslan lions in that print! Hope you have a wonderful holiday this weekend!!!

The bee sounds fun, especially if sparkling and tiaras are involved, I'm in *trying not to commit* mode but I do like the start you've made and the fabrics you've chosen :-) Merry Christmas!!

That's a fun way to get a little sewing in. Lisa, I had not thought of that fabric as Narnian, but now that you pointed it out, it will always strike me that way.
Merry Christmas to you too!

I'm very tempted to join this bee myself and I spotted your blocks when I searched the hashtag last night. They really stand out and are very striking! I hope you enjoy your Christmas!

I don't have a tiara but would like to know where's the line-up for the sparkling wine please ? (lol) Lovely colours in that stash of fabrics. Enjoy a very cheerful holiday with lots of family, friends, happy hearts and food (lol) with pleasant surprises all around. ;^)

No I do not have my tiara yet, nor do I have my fabric pulled by I am in all the way on Molli's bee! Love your trees, and you sure had me fooled that that WAS Narnia fabric, beloved books that I did not meet until a Children's Lit class in university! Devoured them. Yay for the winter solstice (is it just me or do these solstices come by sooner these days??) and heading to longer days!

Happy Solstice to you too! My daughter may still have a princess tiara somewhere, me while I haven't been lured into the honey pot bee yet, it may happen.

Well I have to say that I LOVE these little trees! And the whimsical fabrics you have chosen. I too am avoiding bees as I just don't seem to have the time to see that I think I should. Also, I have some projects in the works that are going to take some serious time so I must focus on those first..still I do like the idea of a tiara! I will enjoy seeing y'all in yours anyway..

Happy Christmas!I love your little blocks - very Lion, Witch & Wardrobe and that would make a brilliant idea for a quilt of its own!

How could you go wrong with that pretty fabric pull?!! Your trees look fabulous. And I am sure all the charity quilting you have been up to will be greatly appreciated, both by your guild, and by the recipients of the quilts. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

The Narnian Trees are sweet (Narnia does have a Christmassy ring with that perpetual winter they were having, doesn't it?) I might get to borrow a tiara from my kids if I behave myself ;)) Merry Christmas to you!

Whoops! I need to clarify here. I'm storing the charity quilts for my guild until I can deliver them later in the month. There are over 40 of them!

Hope you had a wonderful holiday Lisa. Those Narnian looking fabrics are so pretty! And yes, the lion definitely resembles Aslan from the original pencil drawings in the books.
