O.K. I failed miserably at finishing my June OMG....didn't even touch it. I forgot how busy June could be when I set that goal. I also didn't count on my sewing machine acting up. Yes Jane the Janome has started skipping stitches and has been breaking thread, and yes I have changed the needle and rethreaded her to no avail. It could be because
I ran over a basting pin when I worked on my daughters quilt but the machine didn't start to act till some time after that. I'm happy that I have Jasmine the Janome her more basic sister still in my possession as I have been using that machine for piecing. Jane is going to the sewing machine shop to get some t.l.c. tomorrow.
I've been working on the Rainbow Rose Quilt Along hosted by Ruth at the Modern Quilters Ireland. I fell behind a couple of weeks ago but I've managed to catch up.
This has been a fun quilt along and it's the first time I've worked on a colour wheel progression project. I'm pretty happy with the colour progression although I think the Tula Pink purple striped fabric is jumping out of the quilt right now. I guess it's the psychedelic portion of the quilt and I'm leaving it. I think it adds to the 60's vibe of the quilt.
I'm taking my cue from Tish of Tish's Adventures in Wonderland and setting my OMG for July as the finishing of this quilt. I have to add some negative space to the quilt to get it to my desired size of 50" by 60". Then I think I'll do some walking foot quilting on this one.
I'm linking my post to OMG hosted by Heidi of Red Letter Quilts and to Let's Bee Social with Lorna of Sew Fresh Quilts.

Color progression looks good
I do believe your's is my favorite of the Rainbow Roses I've seen. The colors are so vibrant! Good look on your goal!
I really love how bright and vibrant your colors are in your version! It looks great!
It looks all bright and fun =) Good luck sorting out your sewing machine.
Oh your rainbow rose is gorgeous - well caught up!! I am still deciding what size to make mine up to but like you am thinking of adding some negative space for extra quilting!
What a beautiful colorful block! I love it!
Beautifully done! Your color progression is perfect.
It's a really happy looking rainbow! I like the Tula Pink addition - its nice to draw your eye to a spot to rest sometimes!
It looks beautiful! and I'm still in love with your background)) I'm waiting for somebody to quilt their rose before starting mine)), but I'm also inclined towards walking foot quilting.
So pretty and such fun colors. Love stars!
You did an excellent job. Love that psychedelic purple. So 70s like, lol. Good luck with the July OMG. Enjoy summer! ;^)
I can only echo what has already been said. Your Rainbow Rose quilt is beautiful and vibrant, lovely colour graduations. I hope Jane is home and feeling much better now.
Smiles

So pretty! I love how happy it looks. Perfect for summer.
I have finishing mine as my silent (well now not so silent!) OMG goal. The #1 is my daughter's quilt. Lots going on though in July foof! I too have a jump or two in mine, but I did not see yours until you pointed it out...good lesson there, and I would leave it too; it's gorgeous!
Just curious, when you hit the pin was it with your free motion foot and does it have a spring? I was reading a blog the other day and the lady thought her machine was having issues and it turned our it was the spring on the foot. Just food for thought. And I love the colors on your Rainbow Rose! I think we will have quite the colorful month :)
My first thought on seeing your Rainbow Rose was how well the colors progressed and how rich and bright the colors were. I had to go back and look at the purple section to see what you were talking about. You were right to leave it. It all looks fabulous!
I LOVE your version - it's beautiful. I actually think I might make another, because I loved this project so much...Just to try out different colors and all.
Your version is awesome, I love the bright colors, perfect for summer.
I've loved seeing everyone's rainbow rose projects. I wish I had the time to join in but maybe later down the road. I think your progression of colors looks great and while the Tula Pink fabric draws your eye, I like it.
