I started motoring, and once I started I just kept going. So let me introduce you to Charlotte's quilt. I have a name for this quilt but I'm keeping it a secret until I get it quilted and bound. The quilt top finishes at 48 inches by 60 inches.
I kept myself interested through the production sewing by sewing the blocks into rows every four blocks completed, and by sewing the rows together when I got them done.
When I got one row together I thought awesome. Two rows together " this is going to be the best quilt ever". Three rows together "Oh, oh this kid is going to get eyestrain looking at this quilt". Thankfully row four contained the orange block and I could breathe easy again. I've been toying with the idea of adding more orange blocks to the quilt but maybe I'll just bind it with orange. What do you think?
My plan is to hand quilt with big stitch quilting...hmm maybe that's a way to add more orange.
I am super excited to have this top finished as it my first block design and my first quilt made with my own block design.
I'm also excited to have finished it this week because if you open up your quilter's planner to this week, there it is in print.
I'm linking this post up to Main Crush Monday at Cooking Up Quilts. Speaking of which this week I've committed to purchasing one of Beth's patterns as part of the I am a Maker Commitment and because I wrote about Yvonne of Quilting Jet Girl last week I'll purchase one of her patterns as well. I'll let you know which ones I pick in a later post.

This is a really great quilt and I can't wait to see your big stitch quilting!
This turned out beautiful! I love the one orange/pink plus among the blues. I think I'm even more excited to see it quilted with those beautiful threads. Congrats on your early finish and that if fell in May :)
Your quilting is stunning.
Your quilt top look beautiful! I love the one little pop of orange against all of the blues.
I LOVE this piece! It's so awesome, the colors, the pop of orange - can't wait to see it finished! Great job!
This is great! I love blues, but this quilt needed the orange. An orange binding and orange stitches would be perfect. Great finish!
It is undoubtably a lovely quilt, the orange and pink block really lifts it. If you were to add more orange blocks it may take the focus from the one you have as would adding an orange binding. My suggestion would be to bind it with one of the blues and maybe a flash of orange? Just my thoughts, its so lovely.

I think it is a gorgeous quilt! And congrats on getting to it so soon.
Gorgeous.... Congratulations on the finish... I live your color choices!!!
Love it!! And the orange just adds a little something to it. Definitely an orange binding.
It looks great! I love the pop of orange, it adds that extra oomph! :) Looking forward to seeing how the hand quilting goes, good luck!
This came together so beautifully, Lisa! I have been eager to see it together and I am excited you got it done so quickly. The pop of orange works so well. I would personally be tempted to bind in mostly blue with pops of orange in the binding here and there... :)
This looks so amazing Lisa! I really like the one orange block and binding it with orange would really tie it all together. But of course, Yvonne's suggestion of blue and orange binding sounds good too.
Lisa - I love your design! That orange block adds so much interest, it's an element of surprise that's always fun to find in a quilt. I would be afraid to add more orange blocks, it might take away from the fun of one block being done in a different color. I am so excited to see this quilted - I think your plan of large hand quilted stitches in color thread is perfect for this design. Congrats on your finish - it's a great quilt! Thanks so much for linking to MCM, and a super thank you for the pattern love!! :)
Well done you, and your quilt looks fantastic. I love the clean lines and the orange pop. I didn't buy a planner, I wasn't able to get the order through. Now.. if I had, maybe I would get things finished too!
Brought a smile to my face. Lovely quilt with a yummy pop of pink/orange. Charlotte is one lucky girl and I am sure soon she will be very happy too.
Hugs,
Preeti.

Your Graduated Cross quilt block is wonderful and it's so exciting seeing it done up like this Lisa! Love that one orange block! Orange binding would be amazing and I love that you are going to big stitch hand quilt it!
Congratulations on your first block design! Beautiful with the pop of orange! The thread colours are gorgeous. Enjoy your hand quilting :)

Wow Lisa, I just love your block and resulting quilt! I think orange for the binding would be very effective.
Congratulations on finishing on the quilt, and on the design. I like the single orange block, but agree maybe orange binding or some orange stitching would be a good idea.
Lovely quilt. Totally love it. Would you want me to make one with Indian fabrics, for a totally different look and feel. If you could sponsor the pattern, I could quickly make one :)
Just came back from vacation and raring to start a new quilting project...
WOW! Way to go Lisa! Perfect timing on top of that. Congrats on the quilt top finish and on being published in the Quilter's Planner. Double win.
An orange binding might steal too much attention; some orange quilting would probably work better, IMHO. Enjoy! ;^)
It's beautiful! I think orange binding will look awesome!
So awesome Lisa! I'm squealing about quilting it in orange... YES!
Very striking Lisa! The Perle's are a great way to bring more orange in, and some orange in the binding too, but I love it already, as is!
