April Update

Last week my local guild Royal City Quilters Guild had the pleasure of having Lorna McMahon of SewFresh Quilts as our guest speaker.  You may have heard about this already as I'm a bit late to the party here.  It was wonderful seeing Lorna's quilts .  They look even better in real life than in photos.  Lorna did a great job talking about each of her quilts and her inspiration for making them.  She is a  natural speaker and happily shared her experience with designing quilts and making patterns.
I've had lots of online conversations with Lorna over the last couple of years and it was great to meet her in person.   Kathy of Kathy's Quilts had her phone with her and snapped this picture of Lorna and me.  Look at us in our matching grey clothes.

If I look like I'm tired in this photo, it's because I was/am.
My personal life continues to be very busy and stressful.

Next month I'm Queen Bee for my Stash Bee Hive so most of my sewing time in the last couple of weeks has been spent sewing and preparing the tutorial for my bee block for May.  I can't share that but I will share the fabric pull of sample fabrics.

I'm ripe for some  rainbow coloured goodness after the winter months, although the weather today has been amazing and it was great to get out and take a long walk around the neighbourhood.

I've also made some progress on my April goal. I've finished sewing the strip sets for the graduated cross quilt. Here they are on the back  railing.

I'll be in Toronto for the next few days helping my Aunt settle back into her apartment.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she will accept all the measures put in place to help her cope at home.  I'll be back to link up to Let's Bee Social on Wednesday.

You and Lorna do look so coordinated in the photo together, Lisa. :) I am sorry to hear that things continue to be so busy and stressful for you, and I sure hope things improve and your Aunt settles into her new apartment.

Rainbow sounds great for your Stash Bee block, and I love the blue gradient strips (of course). :)

I hope you get your aunt settled easily and that life calms down a bit soon. When I see photos like yours here I always wish I lived on the other side of the Atlantic: how lovely to meet quilty friends in person.

I had a wonderful time visiting with you and your guild, Lisa! It was so nice to finally meet you in person. Hope I will be able to come back again for a workshop so we can spend some time sewing together! So glad that the weather is finally nice and hope you get a chance to enjoy some " sunlight" after the "winter"!

Oh man how I love those blue strip sets Lisa! Fantastic pic of you and Lorna! One day I hope to meet both of you...maybe Quilt Canada? Not sure I'm going yet though lol. Moving is stressful, period, but what you've been doing is even more so. Hope you find time to look after YOU. Love your pull for your bee blocks. :-)

Lorna is an inspiration. So glad you got to meet her. Love the fabrics you pulled. That picture of blue fabrics in the breeze belongs on the cover of a magazine. Very yummy indeed. Hope you get some rest. I am sending warm hugs and best wishes to you.

Oh Lisa, I'm so jealous - I love Lorna, even though we haven't met in person. I'm sorry you are so busy - I'm thinking that this time of life (my first year as an empty nester) is so much more busy than I thought it would be! Yikes! I barely have time to sew, although I did take the weekend to sew this week. Only thing is, I want more time to do it now! Oh well.
