February Update

Well I have to say that February has been a definite challenge for me.  I started the month by catching a virus (Yup on February 1).  Since lots of other people at my work seemed to have it worse than me I dragged myself to work that week and took off one day the following week.  I was pretty tired out and had little energy left over for quilting or blogging.  I did manage to put together the Polaroid block for Katrin and it's on it's way to Germany now.

And I managed to get my Stash Bee Block done for Renae but that had it's own challenges, among them a new technique ( applique using interfacing , and a miss cut background piece).  Don't worry I fixed the miss cut!

I liked both of these blocks and if time permits I just might make my own versions of these quilts some day.

Just as I was recovering from the flu my 87 year old aunt who lives in the big city fell in her apartment.  She was on the floor for several days and is now in the hospital. My sisters family and my family have been doing our best to visit her and support her and look after her affairs.  My sister and I are her closest relatives and neither of us live in the same city as her, so this has been very stressful.   She is recovering quite well however and will eventually make it home again.

Oh yes, and I was hosting TGIFF for the first time that week.  I'm happy I pulled  that off and I'm grateful to Deanne of Devoted Quilter who mentored me through the experience.

Somewhere between the flu and the fall I managed to pin baste my daughters quilt.  It's my OMG for February and it's safe to say I won't be completing it, but I just might get that Midnight Mystery quilt top together....should have made that my goal.  I'm linking up to Let's Bee Social over at Lorna's blog and I'm going to check out what everyone else has been up to.

Sorry to hear about your aunt! That sounds scary. I am glad she seems to be recovering well and that you are healthy now, too. The great thing about goals is that they are just that... I hope you do find time for quilting relaxation through everything you have going on, though!

What a crazy month you've had. I hope your aunt is doing better now. Such a terrible thing. Stop...deep breath...relax. Don't forget to take time for yourself so you don't wear yourself out.

Shew, I'm amazed you were able to host the linky and get a quilt basted with the month you had! Glad to hear your aunt is recovering well! Hopefully the end of February will be more relaxing for you!

So sorry to hear February was that hard on you. After it, the rest of the year will be a breeze and very enjoyable... well at least, I hope for you. Glad to hear you and your aunt are doing better. Take care. ;^)

So sorry to hear of your illness and your aunt's fall, but thankful to know you are both recovering well. Your blocks look great! I love that Polaroid block, especially.

Ugh! February was rough for you! I hope March, and the rest of the year, are easier :) Both of your blocks are beautiful!

Yes, that virus is EVERYWHERE! Hate being sick. But you sure managed to get a lot done anyway. Good job!

What an exhausting month! I hope your Aunt in the mend now, she was lucky to have you around to help out. Your polaroid 'photos' are really cute, they will be a good addition to the quilt. Your stash bee block is perfect! What cute background fabric! Congrats on being able to stay on track with your projects during a very busy month!

I'm glad you are feeling better, sick is never fun :( I'm glad to hear your aunt is recovering. Hopefully, she will be back home soon. Even though February has been a trying month for you, I say give yourself a huge pat on the back. You have really gotten a lot done. I might have been tempted to craw in a hole and hide.

You've definitely had a rough February. Glad that your aunt is doing better (boy that must have been scary for her!) and that March is a smooth sailing month for you.

Hi Lisa, I'm late commenting on this blog post. February was rough for me too, but thankfully it was just busy, and I wasn't sick. Hope March is going better for you. I'm curious about your Polaroid block. It seems like you deliberately included a solid yellow rectangle to the right of the butterfly rather than a feature fabric. I assume that's part of the design, and perhaps the blank rectangle is in a different placement in other people's blocks. At any rate, I really like it. Take care, Mary.
