Work In Process Wednesday

I'm participating in the 2015 New Quilt Bloggers  Blog Hop this year!  It's been a whirlwind of activity keeping up with face book posts, emails, blog critiques, and trying to check out the other blogs !  I have however managed to squeeze in some time for sewing.  Here is my take on the Grande Scrappy Tiles quilt pattern that some of us have been testing for Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs.

I chose bold modern fabrics for this modern pattern and I love how it turned out.  I think it has a lively energy to it and I'm sure I'll have fun quilting it.  Cheryl describes  her pattern as having an improvisational look and seeing it in this picture I have to agree.

This pattern would make a great group project and I'll recommend it as a bee project for my guilds' comfort quilt program.  It would also be a great beginner  project as the pieces are large and there are not a lot of seams to match.  This was my first time testing a pattern and I really enjoyed the process.  I'm linking up with W.I.P. Wednesday at Freshly Pieced and with Lets Bee Social at Sew Fresh Quilts.

It looks like stained glass on the line! :)

It splits the difference beautifully between Piet Mondrian and Frank Lloyd Wright. I love it!

Oh my goodness, I love this! Your choice in colors is awesome! I have never thought to use such a color combination but it works so well, I think that this might be my favorite version of the pattern! It really does look like stained glass in the light. Thank you so much for pattern testing for me!

What a cheerful quilt, and very Mondrian like! Do you know how you're going to quilt it yet? Just popped over from Let's Bee Social, nice to meet you :)

Love it! Was going to say it totally reminds me of a Mondrian painting -- guess I'm not the only one! Awesome!

Lol, the other commenters beat me to the punch! I was going to say that it reminded me of some modern/pop art from old textbooks I had. Great minds think alike, right? :) It's a lovely top, awesome job!

Great photo - this colour combo would look lovely as summer curtains or somewhere the light shines as in the photo!

This pattern is so neat, it does look very improv inspired - it's hard to see where the blocks start and end! The fabrics you chose are lovely; I do love the stained glass effect of a flimsy finish in the sunshine :)

I've visiting from the New Quilt Blogger Hop; I participated last year. I've made one Scrappy Tiles block for Cheryl as part of a the New Quilt Blogger Bee a bee: http://quiltingmod.blogspot.com/2015/02/odds-ends.html. I was surprised how big the block ended up being. It came together easily enough, and Cheryl's directions were clear. I really like how your primary + black and white color scheme looks.
