On this beautiful sunny winter day I am happy to share that I finished the Hexagon Sewing Kit. I followed the Pattern by Laura Jane Taylor in her book Quilt-opedia. My hexies were a different size so I altered things slightly. This was listed as an advanced project. I'm not an advanced sewist but most of the project was fairly easy for me. The tricky part was the pocket with the inset zipper on the right side of the last photo. It's hard to explain but it's a pocket within a pocket sort of. I made this sewing kit for myself and I'm really happy that I did because I love the traditional Japanese fabrics. This is my second finish for the 2015 first quarter finish along. The original post is here.
I'll be linking up with Friday Finishes, TGIFF which is hosted this week at Jenn's blog Quarter Inch From the Edge. I'll also be linking up on Sunday with Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching link up and on Monday to the Monday Morning Star Count at Life Under Quilts as these folks watched this project grow from infancy. Then on Tuesday I'll link up with Leanne at She Can Quilt as she hosts the Scraptastic Tuesday link up with Nicky from Mrs Sew and Sow. This little sewing case was made from the scraps from this quilt.

I`m sure you`ll enjoy using this lovely little case whenever you`re handsewing. Hexies make everything better, don't they? Thanks for linking up with TGIFF!
I love the palette. Way to go on using your scraps and tackling this project

This is such a beautiful sewing kit ... I'm usually not a fan of purple, but you have definitely changed my mind with these Japanese prints! I want to make one now :)

Very nice! I might need to make one of those too!
That is a great quilting kit. It is in my favorite color also. I love all the pockets and gadgets. Beautiful.
A lovely project Lisa... great job! What a perfect kit to store your hand stitching accessories for portable sewing.
Oh I love it, looks like you thought of everything. I really like the clip for the scissors!
It was Laura Jane Taylor who thought of everything. I just followed her pattern.
What a great little case. Love the clip for the scissors! I use a basket right now to hold my parts... it fits well in the cup holder in the car when I am waiting on the kiddos.
Such a lovely thing.
Great sewing case. I would have been stopped dead in my tracks with that pocket zipper!

Oh this is absolutely awesome! My favorite colors and just the right thing to do EPP on the go! The way you quilted it gives additional structure and looks very beautiful!
