Proud to be a Slow Blogger

Ever since I stumbled across the slow blogger link up, ages and ages ago, I knew that when I got my own blog I would  connect with the slow bloggers.  Not only do you have the best logo but you seem like my kind of people.
I've got many things on my list of things to do but life has been throwing me curves.  First of all I caught a flu bug that kept me in bed for a week.  That was over three weeks ago and I'm still not fully back to good health. Then my husband renovated our bedroom which threw our house into chaos and dust.  With bedroom things taking over other parts of the house, there has been little room to do things and I can't find most of the tools.  I did manage to pin base this quilt on Saturday (See  carpentry tools in the background)

I'm also kind of slow at learning my way around the blog.  I know I'm a no reply blogger but who knows when I'll find the time to fix that, and I still have to figure out how to get the description of myself to show up on the blog.  Oh well all in good time.  I'm linking up to the slow blogger linky party at Knotted Cottage.

Finish Along Q2 List

I've decided to set some finishing goals for myself and join in with the 2nd Quarter Finish Along hosted by The Littlest Thistle.  Here are my goals.

First up is Swoon.  I have all the blocks made.  I need to add the sashing and quilt it.

Next up is Ronnie's Pow Wow quilt.  This one just needs to be quilted.  I finished the top for Christmas of 2012.  She's been waiting patiently for me to build up my skills and confidence to quilt it.

Number three on the list is this colourful curved pieced wall hanging.  Also needs to be quilted.  I don't even remember when I pieced this top.

I should stop here as the average number of completions was three, in the last quarter ,but I'll add two more just for fun!    4 on the list is the 4 penny patch . This is left over from a quilt along with Rachel Hauser of Stitched in Color.   I've got to finish a few blocks then put the quilt together. Here's one little block below.

And for number 5 I've got my half hexagon quilt, started three weeks ago. It's in the piecing the blocks together stage.

Wish me luck! And good luck to everyone else on your finishes as well!  Linking up to the Littlest Thistle.

I'm spending far too much time with this quilt!

I haven't  been that productive in the last half of March  no recent finishes so  I think I'll have to find some new places to link up.   I'm going to try linking up with the needle and thread network Work in progress Wednesday.needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca
I had plans to get lot's done and even booked a week off work to free up some time to machine quilt a couple of tops that have been patiently waiting to be finished.
Things started out well. Dwight and I went to visit my sister and her husband for the maple syrup festivities in Prince Edward County.  We had a blast. But when we came home on Monday for my week of productivity I came down with  a horrible virus and spent the week in bed. So much for pin basting and machine quilting.
This is all I managed to work on.

These were cut from Japanese fabrics I bought about a year ago from Kalisti Quilts in Waterloo.  The pattern is Hex Centric by Johanna Masko.  I cut these out and put them on the design wall but I was having serious issues with some of the lights not being light enough and too much going on in the quilt.  so I made some substitutions  and although there is still a lot going on in the quilt I'm happier with it.
The three strips on the left are sewn together.  The rest is waiting to be pieced.  I'm still not 100% sure about the pink but I've decided to pretend there is no other fabric in the world as I've been  driving my self mad!  This quilt and I are spending way too much time together.  Dwight is renovating our bedroom and I am sleeping in the same room as the quilt.  No wonder I'm over analyzing it!
Our bedroom furniture and all the stuff from our closet etc is squished all over the house including in this little sewing room /bedroom with me. The dining room where I pin bast the quilts is bursting at the seams.  So no finishes in sight for me.
