A Rather Slow Update

I went on a trip with my sister to Mexico last week!  It was a wonderful trip.  I can't even tell you the last time the two of us had time together alone. We spent a lot of time talking and catching up, a lot of time lolling on the beach...

and a little bit of time doing aqua fit in the pool (1/2 hour a day), and we did a day trip to see the Mayan ruins at Tulum.

I of course had high hopes that I would get lots of hand sewing done.  This is a sample of what I brought along.

I managed to finish one complete star...

     and one blooper....

This is what happens when I try to sew on a beach.  Too many distractions I guess.  I can see that I'll be doing some slow unsewing today, although I can see some possibilities for using these 2 1/2" diamonds for modern abstract designs based on this mistake.  Unfortunately I have more ideas than time.

I linking up to Kathy's Slow Stitching Sunday today and Jess's Star Count on Monday.

I have done that same blooper with a star ...ergh

They take awhile to make. I say getting one done on a vaca is good!

It sounds like a lovely trip! At least it isn't too much you will have to unsew. :)

Sounds like a great get away! When I was younger, I was very interested in the Maya culture and visited many of the ruins in the Yucatan. I haven't thought of that in many years. it's easy to put the wrong sides together when you are looking at other things, but like Yvonne says, it isn't much to unsew.

We enjoyed the ruins at Tulum when we took our children years ago. Sounds like you and your sister had a fun time.

I love the star!

Enjoy the vacation. You can always enjoy some needle time another time lol.

What a fun vacation. I'd never be able to get any sewing done there.

Lovely break - not surprised though that you didn't do much sewing! I love the idea of using diamonds to make modern, abstract designs; I really hope you get time to do it at some point.

It sounds like a lovely trip, if not very productive in sewing terms!! The star you completed is a very pretty one :-)

Sounds like a great vacation. Sometimes it's just nice to get away.

Sounds like a nice break - would love to wander around some Mayan ruins - that would distract em from handsewing anytime!

Sounds like a fun time. Isn't funny how hard it is to give up sewing even when we are on vacation?! We are obsessed aren't we? Oh well.

That is so funny - I sewed the same blooper the other day on the beach too! I couldn't believe it, I've made over 50 of them and now, towards the end, I get it wrong. But that's what the seam ripper is for!

Ahh, love the shot of toes basking on a reclining chair, The Gulf in the background, the just sisters trip...my brother is in Merida as I type; he is building a home there. I really should pull out the hexie papers I bought oh, a decade ago and get something going.

took me a minute to realise the mistake. Holidays are for relaxing anyway
