Mid December Update

I've started the quilting on Charlotte's quilt.  So far I've been using the walking foot in each of the crosses.  I'm enjoying the process and loving how it looks but it's a slow process and I've given up on getting it finished by Christmas.  I'm still holding out for the end of the month but even that may be a stretch.  December is such a full month.  I'm out just about every night this week and we will be celebrating Christmas with Dwight's side of the family on Saturday and possibly Sunday as well. When the relatives come up from the States we squeeze in a lot of visiting.

Last Saturday I got together with Cyndy and Wendy for sewing.  I worked on a couple of things.  I finished my Washi Tunic in plenty of time to wear it next Spring. Do you think it's colour is Greenery?  If so I guess I'll be on trend.

I made it out of an AnnaMaria Horner knit that I bought on sale at Len's Mill. It's pretty bright but it's super comfortable and I think it looks pretty good on me.  The composition in the photo isn't the best but I have to say it's pretty hard to get photos with natural light in Ontario in the winter.  Here's what my back yard looks like.  This is my second finish for the 4th quarter of the 2016 finish along.  The original list is here and the button is in the sidebar.

This cat is the second thing I worked on.  It will be joining the others I have made for Cat Treats a pattern by Lorna of Sew Fresh Quilts.  The last time I got together with my friends I tried sewing two at a time.  Unfortunately I sewed the ears to the chin fabric on those two and I'll have to reconstruct them.  One at a time seems safer.

Like always the three of us had a great time and when it came time to leave Wendy gave us each a Christmas floral arrangement she had made.  Here's mine.  Isn't it lovely.

It's a beautiful sunny winter morning.  I don't start work until 11:00 today and I'm enjoying a hot cup of tea as I reflect on how lucky I am to have good friends both off and online.  I'm linking up with Let's Bee Social at my friend Lorna's.  I know she will be happy to see the cat.

Oh, the start of quilting on Charlotte's quilt looks great, and I hope that you can take your time and enjoy the quilting more than feeling rushed as the rest of December sure makes things feel hurried at times. Having a sew day with friends sounds like a great way to slow down and enjoy, too.

Congratulations to finishing the Washi Tunic. I hope you will treat us to a picture of you wearing it next Spring. It is amazing that you have got all this snow in your yard. The last week here in Berlin was pretty mild but temperatures are meant to drop again soon. Still until we get snow here - if at all - it might be January 2017. =) Charlotte's quilt seems to come along nicely too. I cannot spot any wrinkles so you are doing well quilting wise.

The Washi tunic is lovely! I think the quilt will look great too, even if it takes 2 months to quilt!

December is always so busy. Your quilting looks great so. Kudos on the Washi tunic. I haven't even attempted my dress yet.

Charlotte's quilt is coming right along. You may surprise yourself and get it finished. But don't feel bad, somehow I missed the memo there is only one more weekend before Christmas...panic is starting to set in. I love the greens in your tunic and can't wait to see pictures of you wearing around this spring.

Yep, that Washi tunic screams greenery. You are definitely on trend! I love the color too. Lovely fabric. I haven't made a tunic from that pattern yet but that would be a fun project for spring.
Try not to rush the quilting. Easier said than done, but take your time. You will get a better result and it will be so much more enjoyable. All in good time.
Lovely bit of snow. We are having tons of rain but it is not even close to cold enough for snow. If you have any influence there, try for good weather the week of Jan 14th when I come up for Kyle's wedding. ;-)

It's such a busy time right now a lot of us are struggling to sew and you are wise to seal the finish rather than rushing and ending up making mistakes or being unhappy with the finished quilt. Enjoy Christmas, have a great time with your friends and family, and enjoy TODAY, you will never get it back.

Your cat is looking pretty sneaky... And very cute, too, of course. And that new top is fabulous! How fun it must have been to have the girls over for a sew day. Sewin' while it's snowin'.... Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas, Lisa!

I really love that quilt, and the quilting looks great. I like the walking foot for the straight lines and hate it because you have to turn the entire quilt to use it. So it has it's pluses and minuses. I love Lorna's patterns - they are so adorable. I hope you finish the quilt in time, but if you don't you can still wrap it up and give it and then take it back to finish it. That's what i plan to do if I don't finish my two projects. Have a fun and wonderful holiday celebrating season. I know you'll enjoy your grandson.

I like the juxtaposition of your green summer top and the white snow in the backyard. The top turned out very pretty. Have a very Merry Christmas. Hope you can get in lots of stitching after the holiday.

I know we set these deadlines for ourselves to keep us on track but don't let it keep you from enjoying the process on Charlotte's quilt. While I don't yet miss living in the snow (only 3 years in Florida now), I do miss seeing it outside my window around the holidays which is why I love seeing when everyone else posts pictures. Thank you!
