The quilting has begun!

I've managed to find some time to work on quilting my daughter's quilt.  I started the quilting on Friday which was her birthday. I sent her pictures and she was very excited and happy with the quilting so far.

The blocks are 18" square and it's a challenge for me to make the loops to fit the space but I'm happy with my progress with free motion quilting on my domestic machine.

My plan is to continue with swirls in the background, wavy lines in the centres and loops in the shoo flies.  I'm also thinking I might vary the pattern in some of the shoo flies.  Now that I've started, I'm thinking I can finish this by month end if things don't go too crazy by then.  As usual I'm linking up with Main Crush Monday and Let's Bee Social.

Starting the quilting on her birthday seems really perfect, and how awesome that she loves the progress. The large loops look great, especially your transition around the corners - that can be really tricky!

The hardest step is the first one and you did it. You've started! Yeah! The rest will be easier now. I love the quilting design you decided on. It will turn the Shooflies into flowers of some sort. Great job! ;^)

I love the quilting you have chosen, now that you have a plan, you'll be surprised how quickly the quilting goes. And to agree with Yvonne, your loops in the corner are great! Turning corners always throws me for a loop...no pun intended.

Oh, I am sure this will be a fabulous finish. Your quilting is very neat :-) and it is terrific that you are trying different quilting patterns in the same quilt. There will be no dull moment here!
Hugs,
Preeti.

Lisa, your quilting looks great! It looks like it will work up fast, especially since you have a plan for each part of the quilt. Have fun, and thanks so much for linking to MCM!

Looking great. Keep up the good work. I just tried these type of loops on the weekend. It was hard to fill the space and do the corners -- but now I see that I was quilting out towards the inside and maybe I should have done like you did -- pointing outward. I will try to remember that.

Lisa, it's looking fabulous! I especially grinned at the swirls you've done-you rocked them my friend! I hope to have my daughter's quilt done by the end of April on Avril (ha, didn't see that until I started typing it), since it's not going to happen on the Bernina by the end of March.

Lisa, that is really cool quilting! No wonder your daughter got so excited. I like the way you did different patterns in each area!

Don't you just love it when you have a quilting plan in mind? That's usually the hardest part to getting started. Looks great so far!

I love the quilting in the shoo fly fabric with two loops in the triangles and three in the squares. I need to remember that. For me, the hardest part about quilting is figuring out what design to use where. I know your daughter is thrilled!
